Back To Basics: Stitches

There are two ways to knit: Continental knitting & English knitting.
(Or if you’re American, German knitting & American knitting.)

The difference between the two is the way the needles are held as you knit.

I was taught to knit the English way & therefore I find this the most comfortable way to knit.
If you are new to knitting it is best to try both & decide which feels the most comfortable.

The first video below will show you how to knit in the English style in both a stockinette & purl stitch.

The second video shows how to knit the stockinette stitch using the Continental style.
